Huntington Park Man Charged on Trader Joe’s Robbery Spree in SoCal

Straight out of my hometown in South LA a man and son from Huntington Park were arrested in connection to 21 robberies all in Trader Joe’s locations. From August 28, 2020 all the way to December 4, 2020, this guy was on a mission. Gregory Johnson and his 20-year-old son Eric Johnson robbed the Trader Joe’s stores at gunpoint in the following cities: Eagle Rock, Sherman Oaks, Chatsworth, Pasadena, Culver City, Rancho Palos Verdes, Agoura Hills, Semi Valley, Brea, Santa Ana, Tustin, Corona, and Chino Hills. The only reason these criminals got caught was that an eyewitness took down their license plate during one of the robberies that took place in Chino Hills. A few of those stores were robbed 2 times within two weeks.

If convicted of all charges, Gregory Johnson could be facing a statutory maximum of 20 years sentence in federal prison for each robbery charge, and an additional 10 years for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The son of 20 years of age pleaded guilty on two-count information charging him with interference with commerce by robbery for robbing the stores in Chatsworth and Chino Hills. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 12 at which time he will face the statutory maximum sentence of 40 years in federal prison.
